The Mafia

Mafia, mafia, close to my heart
Mafia, mafia, hope we never part
Mafia, mafia, what are you doing with that gun
Mafia, mafia, urk.

No, not that mafia.  Well, maybe that mafia as well.  Tom is from Belgium, after all.  I have no idea what that means.  At any rate, Mafia is a strange, somewhat monotonous game which involves a group of people sitting around accusing each other of being crooks and thieves, much like a Senatorial debate.  However, unlike the Senate, in Mafia there are certain innocent people who have committed no crimes and only want the bad people put in prison.  Or wait, no, they want them dead.  These people are probably Republicans.

At any rate, Mafia is a really fun, sick, twisted, and deluded game.  Everyone sits around in a circle, or quasi-circle depending on where everyone wants to sit, and accuses other people of being mafia members.  There are both formal and informal accusations, the difference being that

Baseless Accusations

if the accusation is informal, the acusee does not die.  Naturally, I was pushing the formal accusations.  There is also a cop, but I don't really remember what he does.  Mostly he dies, I think.  The only time I was a cop the game was stopped when the second mafia member didn't completely wake up.  Oh, that's the other thing about this game: sleep.  You get to.  It is good.

Here, presented for your reading enjoyment, are the top ten things said during the mafia game at Tom's graduation party:

Blank Minds

10. I'm not the mafia!
9. I'm the mafia!
8. Okay, so, who do we kill?
7. Wait, you couldn't be the mafia, because then you would have killed the cop.  Unless you ARE the cop, and then..
6. I'm confused.
5. Oh god, I don't care, let's just kill SOMEONE.
4. Shut up, Dave
3. Let's just kill Ben.  It's safer that way.
2. He looks strange.  He didn't look like that last game.  Let's kill him.
1. General George MacArthur

What follows is a collage of images from the rest of the game with short descriptions.

Defying both the laws of physics and photography

Tom's rapidly moving watch throws Kirstin into hysterics

The posters seem much more interesting than the people blocking them

The mafia awakens (this picture taken while asleep)

Tom and Jenn.  Jenn is probably angry because she's the mafia again.  Tom is probably angry because nobody believes he's the cop.

Various people walk around (Eddy is actually classified as a "variety person", and not a "various person".  Dave regrets the error)

Jenn looks at Mo, Kirstin looks at the flash, Tom looks at Kirstin, and Eddy just looks strange

A dead fly rests atop an M&M.  Most likely, it was killed by the mafia
